The BAAC programme in South Africa is driven by AICC on the basis of supporting existing initiatives and key institutions in the country involved in anti-corruption such as the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA), the National Business Initiative (NBI) - a focal point for the Global Compact Learning Network in SA, Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), University of South Africa (UNISA), The Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Ethics SA and the National Anti-Corruption Forum (NACF).
AICC is also part of the Public Sector Governance Committee for South Africa, which is hosted at the IoD as a secretariat and chaired by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The committee involves participation of key State-owned enterprises (SOEs) as well as the national treasury and various accounting bodies in SA to provide thought leadership in the area of governance.
AICC supported BUSA in convening the SA Anti-corruption Business Forum, which was held in October 2009 and attended by about 300 leaders from business, government and civil society. The aim of the forum is to share information on corruption and bribery in the business sector; review the efficiency of anti-corruption mechanisms in South Africa; and monitor progress on the implementation of the National Anti-corruption programme.
AICC is also supporting the involvement of civil society organisations in NACF processes.
